  About the Institution
Dublin City University was created in 1975 as the National Institute of Higher Education, enrolling its first students in 1980. In 1989 it became a university by statute and adopted its current name, and in 2016 it incorporated four other institutions in Dublin. Today it has more than 18,000 students, and more than 20% are international students.

It has been ranked in the top 4% of universities worldwide and is the only University on the island of Ireland to be featured in the QS Top 50 under 50. Dublin City University has also been placed 86th among the top one hundred young universities in the Times Higher Education 100 under 50.

Dublin City University has several libraries across its campuses, offering students access to many resources, including books, journals, online databases, and more. The University has state-of-the-art sports facilities, including a gym, indoor sports hall, swimming pool, and outdoor sports pitches that students use frequently. The Student Union offers students access to clubs, societies, advice and support services, a student bar, and more. Students can also find a campus medical centre, counselling services, and fitness equipment.

  Location
Dublin is known as a student city due to the high population of young people, global work opportunities and infamous pub culture. There are more than 700 pubs in the town, with live music and local beers a mainstay of Dublin’s nightlife. Reports show Dublin has the highest quality of life out of any Irish city, and when you see the plethora of art galleries, museums, green spaces and the friendliness of locals, it is easy to see why.

  Student Life
There are over 140 clubs and societies at Dublin City University that cover a range of areas, including Surf ‘n’ Sail, Japanese Soc, Style Soc, Dance and more. Students are actively involved in student life, and the atmosphere promotes inclusivity and leisurely activities. At Dublin City University, students make friends for life at communal places such as the Society Life Committee or the various workshops available throughout the year.

Dublin City University offers accommodation in the following locations. Hampstead Apartments are located on campus and feature single, twin and double rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. The Larkfield Apartments are also on-campus and feature single and twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchen facilities. College Park Apartments are off-campus and feature single and twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchen facilities. Shanowen Square Apartments are off-campus and feature single and twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms and shared kitchen facilities.

All accommodation comes fully furnished with utilities such as heating and electricity. They also provide access to laundry facilities, standard rooms, and high-speed internet.
