  About the Institution
Louisiana State University is a public research university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded in 1860, the university has a rich history of providing research-based programs to local agricultural and industrial communities. Today, it is 1 of 8 universities in the USA with a law school, medical school, dental school, and veterinary school, plus an elite MBA program and welcomes around 1500 international students annually.

As a flagship university in Louisiana, the university focuses on helping students develop intellectually and personally, with two museums on campus and a library that houses over two million volumes.

The main library on campus, Middleton Library, boasts an impressive two million volumes, allowing students to study together in communal areas or utilize their computer labs and other resources. LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital is one of the largest animal hospitals in the country, and it offers specialized services such as equine surgery and oncology to animals big and small. Significantly, two museums are located on campus. The Louisiana State Museum displays the history and culture of Louisiana, including its role in the civil war, while the LSU Museum of Art showcases a collection of more than 6,500 works of art. The Rural Life Museum also provides an educational experience for students off campus. The LSU Student Recreation Center enables students to use cardio and weight equipment, indoor and outdoor pools and more to keep fit and healthy throughout the year.

LSU also has fantastic team sports facilities. Their football stadium is one of the biggest in the United States, seating over 100,000 people at total capacity. It also has a basketball and baseball arena, with the latter winning multiple national championships.

Situated on the eastern bank of the Mississippi river, the ‘Red Stick City’ offers a bustling food and cultural scene, plus lots of local history.

  Student Life
LSU has one of the most extensive ranges of student organizations, with over 400 to choose from! Student life is, therefore, vibrant and varied, with various arts, cultural and campus events for students to enjoy new experiences, meet like-minded people and have fun. Over 50 sororities and fraternities are creating a robust Greek community on campus.

Athletic students have football, basketball and baseball programs to enjoy and can also obtain discounts on student discounts on sporting events. Leisurely recreational activities are easily accessible thanks to the LSU Student Recreation Center and its fitness and sports facilities. A sense of community is fostered on campus, with volunteering opportunities and a strong student union highlighting the voice of young people.

Louisiana State University offers students on-campus housing and resources for off-campus housing. Traditional residence halls with single and double bedrooms and communal living spaces can be found on campus. Living learning communities can also be located within the various residential colleges on the LSU campus to encourage communal learning and socialization. These colleges are separated by theme. If students want to enjoy more independent living arrangements, apartment-style housing options can also be located. Fully furnished kitchens and living areas make up this housing style, with private bedrooms and bathrooms.

Graduate students or those in a family unit may want to reside in the fully furnished townhouses and apartments LSU provides or check out their database of rental listings in the nearby area.
