About the Institution
Writtle University College was established in 1893 and has been producing leaders in the land-based industries and organisations for over 120 years. There are currently 1,000 Higher Education students enrolled at Writtle, with around 80 of those from international countries. Over 40 nationalities are represented at Writtle.
It has a well established international reputation and many of its past students are working in senior positions around the world. Based across a beautifully landscaped 220 hectare campus, facilities include a farm, equine resources, animal therapy barn, scientific laboratories, library, accommodation and design studios.

Writtle is located in the South East of England, just 64km away from the UK’s capital city London, and within easy distance of three major international airports.

Student Life
Writtle provides Pre-sessional English courses for international students in preparation for academic study, which includes trips to London and Cambridge. Demonstrations on the use of University College services such as the library, computing services, sports and other recreational facilities will help students settle in. Writtle also offers free English lessons alongside your degree to improve your English skills as you study.
There are approximately 400 rooms available for students wishing to stay on campus. International students are guaranteed accommodation in Halls of Residence providing their application for accommodation is received by the required deadline. A laundry and free Wi-Fi service is provided.

(1) Scholarship Name Alumni Scholarship
Scholarship amount - 20% off your fees
Our Alumni Scholarship is for eligible students who have already completed an ARU degree course, and want to undertake a postgraduate taught or postgraduate research degree.
This scholarship is available to students starting a course in the 2024/25 academic year. It applies to any student who has completed an ARU degree, or an ARU-validated degree at one of our partner institutions.

There are two scholarships available:
20% off your fees for ARU alumnus who achieved a 2:2 or above when applying for a postgraduate taught degree

Duration
The scholarship is awarded in the first year of the postgraduate taught or research degree (full-time) or across both years (part-time).
Eligibility
You must be an ARU alumnus and be starting a new course (a student in their first semester of study at Anglia Ruskin University).
There is no time limit on when you completed your ARU award (including at predecessor institutions).
You must be starting a new postgraduate taught or research award either full-time or part-time.
You must be from the UK or be an EU/EEA student who remains eligible for student finance. International students should refer to our International Alumni Scholarship.
This scholarship is not available for degree apprenticeship or distance learning courses, or to applicants who are receiving fee discounts from external agencies such as HEE, GMC or NMC.
(2) Scholarship Name International Alumni Scholarship
Scholarship amount - £3,000
If you’re already an undergraduate student at ARU and want to move onto a postgraduate course, you may be eligible for our International Alumni Scholarship.
We will automatically consider you for this scholarship if you have successfully completed a full honours degree at ARU, and apply to study a Masters degree, our PG Dip Legal Practice Course, or a postgraduate research programme.
Please note: this scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships or early payment discounts.

£3,000 in your first year of study.
This scholarship is a fee discount. We'll deduct it from the tuition fees for your course.
Duration
If you're studying an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course, we will award the scholarship in your first year.
If you're studying a research programme, we will award the scholarship each year that you pay full tuition fees, up to a maximum of three years.
Eligibility
To be eligible for our International Alumni Scholarship you must be:
an international student
starting a postgraduate taught or postgraduate research course in the 2023/24 academic year
studying full-time, unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing full-time study
an Anglia Ruskin University alumnus. We include our predecessor institutions in this, and there is no time limit on when you completed your previous studies.
(3) Scholarship Name International Merit Scholarship
Scholarship amount - £2,000
Our International Merit Scholarship is awarded to international students whose academic achievements set them apart from their peers.
Our scholarship is available to undergraduate, postgraduate and research students and you’ll automatically receive our International Merit Scholarship if you meet the eligibility criteria which is based on the grades below as well as the overall quality of your application.
Value
£2,000 to undergraduate applicants who’ve achieved good results at Secondary/High School level. Typically, a minimum of 120 UCAS Tariff points (or equivalent international qualification)
£1,000 to undergraduate applicants who’ve achieved good results at Secondary/High School level. Typically, a minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff points (or equivalent international qualification)

Undergraduate students should have achieved CCC grades or above at A-level (or equivalent). Postgraduate students should hold a 2:2 or above (or equivalent).
(4) Scholarship Name MBA Scholarship
Scholarship amount - £4,000
Boost your career prospects with our prestigious Master of Business Administration (MBA). Study in Cambridge or Chelmsford, within our dynamic Faculty of Business and Law, and choose from a one-year course or two years with the option of a work placement.
Please note: our MBA Scholarship cannot be combined with the international early payment discount, or with any other scholarships.

One-year MBA: we offer a £4,000 fee reduction to all successful applicants.
Two-year MBA with the option of work placement: we offer a £2,000 fee reduction to all successful applicants. If you aren’t able to secure a work placement, you’ll instead become eligible for the £4,000 discount offered to one-year students.

(5) Scholarship Name Sport Scholarship
Scholarship amount - £12,500
Our Sport Scholarship provides direct support to talented sportspeople who choose to study at ARU.
Scholarships are available to students competing in our performance sports of basketball and volleyball – in exceptional circumstances, we will also consider applications from those participating in individual sports and competing at the highest levels. All sport scholars enjoy free access to our campus fitness centres in Cambridge and Chelmsford.
Value
There are two levels of scholarship, ranging from £1,400 up to £12,500 per year.
Podium Level
Offered to students who are of an international standard and can successfully compete at the highest level of university sport and above, this scholarship is worth up to £12,500 per year. It is given as a full or partial fee waiver.
You’ll also benefit from individualised strength and conditioning sessions, sport therapy, sports performance workshops, and fees, travel and accommodation for agreed competitions.
Elite Level
We offer scholarships of £1,400 per year to cover performance-related costs for students who compete at regional or national level. It is given as a cash bursary.
You’ll also benefit from strength and conditioning sessions, sports performance workshops, and travel and accommodation for agreed competitions.
Duration
Our Sport Scholarship covers the normal, full-time duration of your degree course. Eligibility is conditional on continuing satisfactory academic progress.
