Buckinghamshire New University (BNU) has over 8,000 students currently enrolled, and continues to grow in size since gaining university status in 2007. Originally founded in 1893 as the School of Science and Art, Buckinghamshire New University is known for offering many unique courses such as Policing and the award winning Air Transport with Commercial Pilot Training.

The majority of undergraduate and postgraduate students are based at the main campus in High Wycombe, while a smaller Uxbridge campus hosts the Medicine and Nursing faculty.

Situated approximately halfway between London and Oxford, High Wycombe is the second largest town in Buckinghamshire. It’s not just an industrial centre, but also a market town, as shown by the busy stalls that crowd the high street three days a week – a tradition stretching right back to the 12th century.

The town has a modern shopping centre, a sports centre, an artificial ski centre and an exciting nightlife to suit the varied tastes and interests of students. London is only 40 minutes away by train, and both Heathrow and Gatwick airports are easily accessible. The International Lounge provides a place for international students to meet, relax, and find support on a number of issues. English courses are also offered by the University, while staff will provide tutorial support, guidance and counselling, as well as information on finance, health, sport, welfare, accommodation and career opportunities.

Free airport collection takes place for all new international students starting at Buckinghamshire New University, while orientation is organised by each faculty. In addition, a campus tour, visa seminar and tour of the town will take place to help you feel at home. The international friend’s scheme will allow new students to contact current and international alumni.

Buckinghamshire New University has four main halls of residence spread across its campuses in Uxbridge and High-Wycombe, and first –year students are guaranteed accommodation provided they apply by the required deadline. The University is also able to offer advice on finding private rented accommodation.

(1) BNU Asylum Seeker Scholarship
Nationality International
Buckinghamshire New University is committed to supporting Asylum Seekers and providing them with opportunities to make the most of their new lives. We will be offering at least one scholarship per year.

Eligibility
Application Registration Card (ARC) or Letter from Home Office confirming your Asylum Seeker status (under-1951 UN Convention).

Be ineligible to access funding from the Student Loan Company due to your immigration status.

Not already hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.

You have a conditional or unconditional offer from Buckinghamshire New University.

You must be getting enrolled onto a full-time undergraduate, postgraduate or foundation course in one of our campuses High Wycombe, Uxbridge or Aylesbury campuses.

The scholarship will cover
The cost of all course tuition fees.

Maintenance allowance for the duration of the course paid on intervals through the duration of the course £10,000 per academic year.

Accommodation for the duration of the course of study in University Halls of Residence.

Free gym membership.

(2) GREAT Scholarship

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, Buckinghamshire New University is offering 2 scholarships to students in China and Egypt applying for postgraduate courses in September 2024.

The GREAT Scholarships 2024 programme, launched by the British Council together with 72 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Greece, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 72 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Please note that applicants should be passport holders of China (mainland only) and Egypt.

Buckinghamshire New University, in partnership with the British Council, will be awarding Buckinghamshire New University – GREAT Scholarship 2024 – China and Egypt. This award is for nationals of the previously listed countries who are interested in studying a full-time, postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2024.

2024 Scholarships

Buckinghamshire New University is offering scholarships for students beginning a full-time, postgraduate taught programme starting in September 2024.

One successful applicant in each of the categories listed below will receive an award of £10,000 (GBP) in the form of a tuition fee reduction.

1x Chinese student studying any full-time, High Wycombe based postgraduate taught programme.

1x Egyptian student studying any full-time, High Wycombe based postgraduate taught programme.

Eligibility
To be eligible for a Buckinghamshire New University – GREAT Scholarship 2024 - all applicants must:

Be a national and hold a passport from one of the respective countries included within this scholarship – China or Egypt.

Have received an offer of study for a postgraduate taught degree programme at Buckinghamshire New University.

Have achieved, or be working towards, a 2:1 degree or equivalent in their undergraduate programme recognised by Buckinghamshire New University.

Have achieved an IELTS of at least 6.5 overall, with a minimum of 6.0 in each skill or equivalent before the application deadline.

Have not previously studied in the UK.

Have completed a Buckinghamshire New University – GREAT Scholarship 2024 application form and have answered the following questions (maximum of 250-words per question):

What skills and knowledge have you gained to date and how will they help you to achieve success in your chosen field of study?

How does the course you have applied for at Buckinghamshire New University fit with your interests and future plans, and how will the qualification enhance your career?

(3) Vice Chancellor’s International Student Scholarship

New Students
If you’re a self-funded International Student paying overseas fees for undergraduate study, you may qualify for a scholarship of £1,500 on your first year of study with us.

If you’re a self-funded International Student paying overseas fees for postgraduate study, you may qualify for a scholarship of £3,000 on your first year of study with us.

If you’re a self-funded International Student paying overseas fees for International MBA, MSc Cyber Security or LLM Law, you may qualify for a scholarship of £5,000 on your first year of study with us.

Applicants must hold an offer from Buckinghamshire New University for a full-time taught degree programme September 2024.

You do not need to complete an application form to be considered for this scholarship.

Continuing Students
If you’re a self-funded International Student paying overseas fees, and have enrolled at BNU you may qualify for a scholarship of up to £5,000.

£1,500 when you enrol, £1,500 upon successful progression to level 5 (year 2) and £2,000 when you successfully progress to Level 6 (Year 3).

This scholarship is also available Year 1 Foundation Year students progressing to level 4, and to students continuing on to Level 5 (Year 2) and Level 6 (Year 3).

The important information - Terms and Conditions
One off fee reduction of £1,500, £3,000 or £5,000 available to all applicants paying overseas fees on their first year of study

Applicants must be self-funded.

Programme of study must be at least one year in duration.

The tuition fee charged must be at least £15,000.

This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with another scholarship or bursary offered by Buckinghamshire New University.

The scholarship for continuing students is split as follows: £1,500 scholarship at enrolment (Level 4 - Year 1), £1,500 scholarship for students progressing to level 5 (Year 2), and £2,000 for students progressing to level 6 (Year 3) - this is available for new students who started their courses from September 2024.

The continuation scholarship is subject to satisfactory attendance and successful progression on the course, from the previous level of study.


(4) BNU Refugee Scholarship

Buckinghamshire New University is committed to supporting refugees and providing them with opportunities to make the most of their new lives. Will be offering at least one scholarship per year.

Eligibility
For us to consider your application for our Refugee Scholarship you must:

Provide Evidence of your Biometric Residence Permit (BPR Card) and Share Code showing your immigration status as either a Group 1, Group 2, Humanitarian Protection, Leave to remain or Stateless Leave.

Be ineligible to access funding from the Student Loan

Not already hold an undergraduate or postgraduate qualification.

You have a conditional or unconditional offer from Buckinghamshire New University.

You must be getting enrolled onto a full-time undergraduate or foundation course in one of our campuses High Wycombe, Uxbridge or Aylesbury campuses.

The scholarship will cover
The cost of all course tuition fees.
