  About the Institution
Durham University is a collegiate public research university in Durham, England, founded in 1837. As a collegiate university, its main functions are divided between its academic departments and 17 colleges. In general, the departments perform research and provide teaching to students, while the colleges are responsible for their domestic arrangements and welfare.

The University is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of British research universities and is amongst the top 100 universities in the world, currently ranked 78th in the QS World Rankings 2024. Durham University's teaching quality is impressive, with 19 of its 25 academic departments ranking in the global top 100.

The University offers more than 200 undergraduate and 190 postgraduate programmes under four faculties – Arts & Humanities, Business, Social Sciences and Engineering & Science. The Business school is Triple Accredited, with the MBA program being ranked 2nd globally in the world for Value for Money as per Financial Times Ranking. Popular Durham University courses include physics, economics, law, psychology and geography.

Durham University offers students a wide range of facilities, including libraries, computer labs, sports facilities, and study spaces. The University also offers several specialised facilities, such as a planetarium, an observatory, and a botanic garden.

  Location
Durham is situated in north east England, and is one of the most picturesque cities in the UK. The skyline is dominated by the 11th Century cathedral and castle, which is a world heritage site. Durham has a range of shops and restaurants, with a daily indoor market and a much larger outdoor market twice a week. The Queen's Campus is located 20 miles from Durham, at Stockton. A free bus service runs daily between the two campuses.

  Student Life
The University offers a free coach transfer service from Newcastle Airport at the beginning of the term, with a welcome team present at the airport to guide students. Before the beginning of the term, the International Office hosts an induction programme, including sessions about study skills, orientation and English language skills.

For international students who need to prepare for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at Durham University, the Durham University International Study Centre is based at Queen’s Campus and offers International Foundation Year and Pre-Masters study opportunities.
The Durham University college system offers a range of accommodation options for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Colleges in Durham provide activities and facilities for study, sports, the arts, socialising, relaxation and welfare. Generally, students will live in their college for the first year, move into private accommodation in their second year and then have the option of returning to the college halls for their final year of study.

can demonstrate they bring outstanding experience, this will include a significant amount of postgraduate work experience in roles demonstrating a high level of managerial responsibility

have an impressive academic record – candidates with only the minimum of years work experience required must include extra-curricular activities in their application

have the potential to contribute to and enrich all aspects of the MBA programme, including the diverse academic and cultural profile of the MBA cohort

can demonstrate involvement in volunteering and/or community support activity

have the potential to become an outstanding future alumni ambassador and contribute positively back to the School, organisations and communities.
