About the Institution
The Southern Institute has links with its students and partners across New Zealand. In addition, the institute has a good reputation among students. 90% of graduates considered their programme good value for money, while 92% of graduates were satisfied with the quality of their programme.
Across its various campuses, the Southern Institute of Technology has equipment and resources for studying and leisure. First, the provider’s library has over 25,000 books and 750,000 E-books and provides various group study spaces. Also, the institute has specialist training equipment for certain courses, such as commercial training kitchens.
For leisure activities, the Southern Institute has gym and fitness classes available. The SIT gym was also recently refurbished with state-of-the-art equipment and workout spaces. Students can also use the Bungalow Restaurant, which has a cafe and bar or the Vault Cafe.
Location
At the Invercargill and Queenstown campuses, students are near Fiordland National Park, which was New Zealand's first UNESCO world heritage area. It is also the sixth largest national park in the world and is just a few hours’ drive away. When living in New Zealand. Students will also find plenty of shopping, art and culture events and outdoor activities in most places across Southland.
Student Life
On campus, students are also well-supported with resources and social events. Students can access academic support, health and well-being resources and access opportunities for volunteering, work experience and job vacancies. The institute also has many recreational activities based around sport, recreation, community and social events.
SIT offers off-campus accommodation for students. The provider has apartment-style accommodations for international students, which are located minutes from their chosen campus. Also, options vary from shared rooms and facilities to private options with self-catered and catered choices.
Alternatively, students can stay with a host family in a homestay or private or shared flats in each city. Students can find listings and support directly from the SIT support staff.
