  About the Institution
The Waikato Institute of Technology is one of New Zealand's largest Institutes of Technology/Polytechnics located in Hamilton, New Zealand. Colloquially referred to as Wintec, the institute is a leading provider of vocational and professional education in the Waikato region.

Currently, there are over 1700 international students studying at Wintec, from 50 different countries. Wintec grew from a small technical college to one of Aotearoa, New Zealand's largest tertiary education institutes. Proud to offer flexibility to how students learn, they are part of a growing online, on-campus, and on-job learning network with approximately 30 vocational courses available for study.

World class facilities are a central component of what makes Wintec so appealing. Students have access to state-of-the-art research testing labs, exercise physiology labs, biochemistry labs, and a dedicated biomechanics lab.

The Design Factory is an impressive learning space for students to work with people from different disciples to solve real-world problems. Wintec focuses on building the confidence of their students to prepare them for a long career. Other leading facilities provided include a modern gym, lecture theatre, library and restaurant.
  Location
Waikato Institute of Technology (WINTEC) is located in Hamilton - an area home to more than 40,000 tertiary students so it is a bustling hive of activity. Restaurants, museums and nightclubs line the streets of Hamilton so you can develop a full social life alongside preparing for your future career. Blockbuster Lord of the Rings was filmed in this part of New Zealand so it also acts as a popular tourist destination.

Students might want to spend their spare time browsing Maori artifacts at The Waikato Museum, snap the colourful street art or visit some of the award-winning themed gardens in the city.
  Student Life
There are three main campuses in Hamilton, New Zealand: The City Campus in the centre of Hamilton near the Waikato River. The Rotokauri campus lies just north of the city, blessed with some of the best training facilities in New Zealand. The Hamilton Gardens horticultural campus houses the internationally award-winning Hamilton Gardens and is populated with students studying floristry, horticulture, arboriculture and landscape design & construction. Three additional campuses exist in the Waikato region of New Zealand.

If you require any support during your time with Wintec, the dedicated International Centre organises cultural events, provides advice, assists students with accommodation and more. From computers to coffee; libraries to eateries and beyond, campus life at Wintec is varied and interesting.

Three different styles of accommodation are available for students. The Student Village is based at our City Campus and even includes meals as part of the experience. International and mature students often choose to live in the Wintec Apartments based in the city, along with those looking to cook their own meals. Meanwhile, the Rotokauri Eco Village is akin to ‘flatting’, whereby a group of 20+ or second/third year students share accommodation between four students.
