  About the Institution
The New York Institute of Technology was founded as a private not-for-profit university in New York in 1955. Over 90 technology-infused undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses are available to enrich a student’s future and provide a future in fields such as STEM and architecture.

More than 8,000 overseas students from around 90 countries study at the New York Institute of Technology. Its international reputation stands strong on its Old Westbury, New York campus, with the Office of International Education offering both academic and personal support to all students during their studies.

NYIT has a strong reputation in technological fields. In order to help students to stand at the forefront of technological innovation, the university has invested in installing the most cutting edge materials in discipline-specific laboratories.

The list of laboratories is: Energy and Green Technologies, Renewable Energy Telemetry, Cybersecurity, Bio-engineering and Medical Devices, Aerodynamics, Instrumentation and Measurement, Fabrication and Rapid Prototyping, Materials, Mechanical CAD/CAM, Geographical Information Systems, Thermo-Fluid, Microprocessor-Based Systems Development, Motion Capture, a Class 10,000 Clean Room, Nanofabrication facility, and OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations Facility.

The university also contains first-rate conference and training rooms, a data center, a smart 100-seat auditorium and collaborative fabrication & maker space.
  Location
The campus is located ideally in the heart of New York City. International students dream of living in a city they have seen numerous times on film, with all the infamous museums, theatres and historic landmarks within a short reach of the University. Job opportunities are fruitful upon graduation, as 12 percent of the world’s Fortune 500 companies are located in New York City.
  Student Life
The New York campus offers lots of recreational activity to students at NYIT. The famous Central Park is situated close by, with tourist attractions such as the Lincoln Center and Columbus Circle also just a subway ride away. The mass transit hub transports students to the residence hall and anywhere else in the five boroughs. Politically-minded students can make their voices heard by signing up to any of the numerous student clubs at the University, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Chess club and other societies.

Students enrolled on courses at NYIT often opt for on-campus housing to socialise with peers and benefit from the safety of university-owned accommodation. International students can seek advice as to which rooms would be suitable for their needs and find a reputable list of nearby housing providers if they wish to live independently, or with friends. Residence halls are staffed by full-time professional staff and resident assistants, with communal kitchens and dining rooms for meal times, study areas, a laundry room and fitness centre all easily accessible to all students.

Homestay arrangements are a great option for international students who want to enter into a welcoming home environment where meals are provided (as optional) and everyday life gives a chance to improve their daily English language skills.
