  About the Institution
The State University of New York Plattsburgh (SUNY) is a public college founded in 1899 in upstate New York. More than 60 degree programs are taught here by nationally recognised teachers who support students in pursuit of their educational goals.

Over 250 students from more than 70 countries come to study at SUNY Plattsburgh. The university demonstrates a commitment to social and environmental responsibility along with providing top quality liberal arts and pre-professional programs.

SUNY Plattsburgh boasts world-class facilities. The academic buildings are steeped in history, lined with well-equipped laboratories, classrooms, and offices that provide students with the opportunity to enhance their learning experience. In keeping with their belief that free access to information is a human right, a wealth of resources are readily available at Feinberg Library.

There are also athletics facilities such as Field House, which contains a cardio deck, weight room, basketball and racquetball courts, and an indoor track. The Angell College Center houses the Student Union, where a lounge, food court and individual meeting rooms can be utilised by students. Similarly, there are a range of dining options offering on-site snacks and meals.

  Location
Plattsburgh is rich with activity due to its New York location. As New York City is a short bus ride away, students are able to enjoy the tourist attractions and rich culture of one of the most famous capital cities in the world throughout their time at the university.

Plattsburgh is rich in American history so there are several museums you can visit to get to grips with the local culture, or you can enjoy the commercial sights and restaurants of uptown New York, as desired.

  Student Life
The university has over 100 student-run organisations to get involved with, making campus life an integrative experience. From student-run TV and radio stations to a variety of sports clubs, there is plenty to get involved with at SUNY Plattsburgh.

The student to faculty ratio is 16:1, making the campus richly populated with like-minded young people. Located on campus, the Student Association provides bus rides to nearby New York City at regular intervals throughout the year.Students are encouraged to pursue a rich social life alongside their studies to transform into well-rounded individuals who are ready for life outside of academia.

Around 2,700 students live on campus while another 3,300 students live off campus. Students are required to live on-campus for two academic years (four semesters). Assignments for on-campus housing are made on a first-come, first-served basis and safety is a top priority for the university. Each of the residence halls provided by the college campus has their own sense of community and there are several to choose from. 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom apartment-style options are also available for students who want the New York experience.

The residence halls are renovated annually to ensure the finest accommodation is provided to all students. Each building is eco-friendly by design and kitted out with new amenities that provide a high quality of living. University Police are contactable 24/7 to ensure all students stay safe while living residentially.
