  Location
Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory that is often described as a piece of Britain in the sun. This means you can expect the same standards and values of a British university education within a warm, Mediterranean location that enjoys up to 300 days of sunshine a year.

At 6.7 square kilometres, Gibraltar may be small, but that is what makes it so unique. Everything is walkable, bikeable or a short bus ride away, meaning you will have more time to explore, travel and have fun when you’re not studying. You will be free to join clubs, societies or simply make the most of Gibraltar’s lively leisure and restaurant scene.

If you’re studying in Gibraltar on a student visa, you can take on some part-time work. Depending on your visa, you should be able to work up to 20 hours per week during term time and 40hrs per week during vacation. On completion of your degree programme, non-EU international students can remain in Gibraltar for a further two years for full-time employment in a local businesses.   Find on Map

Covid secure campus
The University of Gibraltar adheres to the latest HM Government of Gibraltar guidelines on Covid-19. The University have implemented and maintain a strict on-campus physical distancing policy, have installed hand sanitiser dispensers throughout our building and spaces undergo thorough cleaning on a regular basis. Small class sizes mean that you avoid larger crowds and reduce the risk of contagion.

Join when you’re ready
The University will be ready to welcome you on campus, but also understand that Covid-19 may affect travel plans and delay some visa applications. If you are unable to get to Gibraltar by the start of your programme, you may enrol virtually initially, meaning you can join a little later.

Personal tuition pledge
Regular one-on-one contact with a lecturer can really boost your studies. That is why if you decide to start your programme virtually, you will receive the same personal support and contact time as face-to-face students.

University of Gibraltar Accommodation
Choosing where you live at university is almost as important as choosing where to study. It needs to be a space in which you feel comfortable, safe and happy.

Most students choose to live at Europa Suites. Located just a two-minute walk away from the Europa Point Campus, all rooms have been designed as spaces in which to relax and study. Each self-contained studio apartment features a compact kitchen, en-suite bathroom and large desk.

Europa Point enjoys breath-taking views over the Straits of Gibraltar and the African continent. Beaches and a full sports complex are within walking distance and regular buses connect you to the centre of town.

  Scholarships
(1) Scholarship Name Barzilai Foundation Scholarship
The Barzilai Foundation Scholarship is designed to provide educational access for high-potential students who are unable to fully fund their studies through other scholarships or their own finances. The scholarship is available for deserving students enrolling in select programmes, who will need to explain their financial need and demonstrate appropriate evidence as part of their application.

Students enrolled in the following University of Gibraltar programmes may be eligible:

Access to Healthcare

The Barzilai Foundation Scholarship covers the remaining tuition fees after all other grants, scholarships, and discounts have been applied. It can be renewed for the duration of your programme, provided you maintain your enrolment and achieve satisfactory academic progress.

(2) Scholarship Name CERG PhD Scholarship
The CERG PhD Scholarship is available for prospective full-time PhD students of the University of Gibraltar, who will focus their PhD research project on gambling related topics, such as the aetiology of problematic gambling/gambling disorder and understanding the mechanisms of gambling related risks and harms.

This scholarship is offered for exceptional students and would cover full programme tuition fees, a monthly living stipend and travel assistance.

(3) Scholarship Name Europa Scholarships
Scholarship amount - £1,500
Nationality International
Europa Scholarships are prestigious scholarships which are competitive and awarded for academic excellence. Europa Scholarships are open to all students and are worth a maximum of £1,500 per annum. They are available for each year of a student’s study programme, subject to continuing good academic performance and satisfactory progress.

(4) Scholarship Name Parasol Foundation Scholarships
Nationality International
Parasol Foundation Scholarships are available for prospective full-time undergraduate, masters and PhD University of Gibraltar students. These are very competitive and awarded for excellence, as determined by the Parasol Foundation Scholarships Selection Panel (‘the Selection Panel’). Typically 1-2 applicants are successful every year.

These scholarships are for exceptional female students who are unable to fund their studies with the University. An initial income household assessment is required for preliminary consideration and proof of excellent academic qualifications.

Applications are particularly welcome from women in the local and regional area wishing to study STEM related courses such as Computing, Marine and Environmental Science and Business Management.

These scholarships typically cover full programme tuition fees and may also subsidise the cost of accommodation.

(5) Scholarship Name PhD Part-time Scholarships
Scholarship amount - Up to £4,050
PhD part-time Scholarships are open to students in Gibraltar or within a commutable distance and applicable to self-funded students. The PhD part-time Scholarship is available up to £3,050 per annum if no bench fees are applicable or £4,050 per annum if bench fees are applicable. They are available for each year of a student’s study programme, subject to continuing good academic performance and satisfactory progress.

Students would need to apply for the PhD part-time Scholarship via an application form. Once a student receives University approval for their research proposal they should request the scholarship form which will be sent to them by the Research Office. The student application will be assessed on academic and extra-curricular performance which is to be part of the PhD and scholarship application form. A Scholarship Review Panel will assess scholarship applications received and a decision is expected to be communicated to the student within 30 days of the scholarship application.
